Introducing the second Innovations release of 2020, and it’s one we are all very excited about! Make room on your spirits shelf for the one of a kind, Batch Banana Cake Rum.

Back in September we started experimenting and flavouring our barrel-aged rums with natural ingredients and botanicals. We then sent a sample of Banana Cake Rum to the Drinks Buyer at Harvey Nichols. He loved it so much he placed an order for the whole batch we’d produced! We were all really excited that he loved the Rum as much as we did – however, there was none left for us to drink. It was therefore only natural that we made another batch to share with our subscribers.

We’ve been busy working on rums over the past few months and this is one of our favourites – we’re really looking forward to your feedback. 

Inspiration

Our inspiration for Banana Cake Rum came from our director, Phil’s, trips to the Caribbean. 

“I fell in love with rum whilst in Grenada in the Caribbean for my first wedding.  My Dad danced the night away with only the local rocket fuel rum to aid his uninhibited moves.  The local banana loaf dipped in the rum was a perfect combination leading to this great rum.”

We wanted to replicate that tropical rum experience and bring it to the rolling hills of Lancashire, in a product that embodies summertime fun. Whether you’re making a rum punch for a summer garden party or sipping it neat as you watch the sun go down on a crisp, February evening, you can enjoy a moment of tropical luxury. No need for your passport here!

Botanicals

Always wanting to create new, innovative flavours, experimenting with rum has allowed Head Distiller, Ollie, to pair and blend a totally different profile in comparison to the juniper-led botanicals that are well-suited to gin. Taking a premium white Caribbean rum, we cask-aged it with real bananas, rich dates and creamy walnuts. The result is a not too overly sweet, rich and creamy rum.

Perfect serve

 In the theme of fun we have gone for a Daiquiri as our perfect serve for Banana Cake Rum.

You will need

50ml Banana Cake Rum
25ml Lime Juice
10ml sugar syrup
15ml pineapple juice
Ice
Nutmeg

Add all ingredients to your shaker, shake well and strain into a cooled cocktail glass. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg. Cheers!
