Moroccan Iced Tea

This cocktail recipe comes from Molly who became somewhat obsessed with mint tea while in Morocco. The smell of Tagine gin distilling away came drifting into the Batch office, and brought back Molly’s memories of Marrakesh’s Medina, sunsets, tagines and of course, copious amounts of sweet mint tea. So when it came to creating a cocktail for Tagine, she combined all the best parts of mint tea with the light spice and the sweet fruit of Tagine Gin.

To make a pitcher for 4 you will need:

200ml Tagine Gin
1 Tea bag
20 cardamon pods
2 limes
3 sprigs of mint
3 tablespoons of sugar
Rose lemonade (optional)
Ice

Crush the cardamon pods and add to a heat proof jug, add 600 ml of boiling water and your tea bag. Steep the tea bag for 5-10 minuets. Strain, place in the fridge and leave to chill.

In your pitcher, muddle the limes and sugar, clap the mint leaves, placing them into the pitcher and gently muddle. Pour in the Tagine gin and top up with the cooled cardamon tea.

Serve your Moroccan Iced Tea over ice and garnish with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint. This cocktail is also delicious finished with a splash of rose lemonade.

Now to just sit back, sip your tea and wait for those warmer evenings to arrive.
