Garam Masala Gin

It’s that time again! And this month we’re introducing the third limited edition spirit in the 2019 Batch Innovations collection – Garam Masala Gin.

Garam Masala is a blend of fragrant spices. The Hindi meaning of garam is ‘hot’ and the meaning of masala is ‘mixture’. These meanings are not a reflection of the spiciness of the blend, but instead it reflects the intensity of its flavours and warming properties. Garam Masala Gin mirrors this profile with a subtle heat & sweetness and its gentle warmth & spice.

Head Distiller Ollie says:

“The spices in Garam Masala vary from region to region and personal taste can influence what’s found in each blend. It’s a Batch tradition to head out for a curry after a team meeting or following our AGM – a time where all staff, shareholders and directors get together. This inspired me to create a gin that represents the Batch family – our take on a garam masala blend”.

Ollie’s serve

Garam Masala Gin is a journey of flavours. Try serving it with Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic and go chutney with your garnish by adding mango and pepper, or recreate a raita and opt for cucumber and mint. If they’re not doing it for you don’t get yourself in a pickle and try a little fresh chilli and lime instead.

David’s serve

This month’s Innovation contains a gift from Fever-Tree. We caught up with David from Fever-Tree and after a taste-test David chose Fever-Tree Aromatic Tonic to compliment Garam Masala Gin.

David says:

50ml Garam Masala Gin
Aromatic Tonic
Lemon zest

Add the ice and gin to a glass. Top with Aromatic Tonic and garnish with lemon zest.
