Spring is on the horizon and very much on our minds here at Batch. March’s release has all the freshness and flavour to carry us through to those longer, warmer days.
Introducing Tagine, 2020’s first gin release. Yep, it’s been a while, we’ve had lots of fun with rum and botanical blends this year but we’re excited to see the return of a Batch Gin.
Conceived in a car! Some of the best conversations happen in the back of your mates car. This goes for our head distiller too. With our love for foody-inspired experimentation, and our obvious passion for gin. It was jokingly pointed out to Ollie, that the word GIN was staring back at him from the delicious dish, Tagine. This sparked a conversation which snowballed into a lot of experiments, then plenty of taste-testing. Drawing further inspiration from the silk road spices, Ollie was able to mix and experiment with a vast array of flavours used in Moroccan cooking. Even calling friend and chef, Paul, into the distillery to critic and assist, perfectly balancing and replicating North African flavours without letting them take over the dry gin. Its not all spice; Tagine is distilled with plenty of fruit, which and has resulted in a vibrant gin, with gentle spice and a sweet, apricot finish.
